A mobile court has fined two traders in Mirsarai, Chattogram, for selling hilsa at the market in breach of government orders. The seized 60 kg of hilsa went to an orphanage.

The drive was carried out at Mithachhara bazar in the upazila on Thursday, 17 October, by upazila assistant commissioner (land) Prashanta Chakraborty.

Prashanta Chakraborty said that during market monitoring, two sellers were fined Tk 2,000 by the mobile court under section 5 of the Fish Protection and Conservation Act for selling hilsa against government orders, and 60 kg of hilsa was seized.

Sellers of various goods at the market were also instructed to display correct price lists and sell at the fixed prices, he said.
