What Happens When You Eat Milk and Banana Together?

Milk and bananas are both nutritious, but according to Ayurveda eating them together can cause digestive and other problems.

Milk is near the top of any list of nutritious foods. Drinking milk regularly can make up for many of the body's deficiencies. Milk is the best source of calcium, which strengthens our teeth and bones, and there is no substitute for milk as a source of energy.

Bananas, meanwhile, contain iron, which helps make blood cells and haemoglobin. A lack of iron causes anaemia, and eating two bananas a day goes a long way towards making up the shortfall. Bananas are also very effective for a quick boost of energy.

Many people love rice mixed with milk and banana, and banana milkshakes and banana smoothies are favourites for many of us. Mixing milk and banana is generally thought to be good for the body. But nutrition experts say otherwise.

What Ayurveda says

According to Ayurveda, the body cannot easily digest banana and milk eaten together. Drinking banana smoothies regularly can also cause problems such as sinus trouble, colds and coughs.

According to Ayurveda, mixing milk with any fruit increases phlegm in the body. Milk and banana both cool the body, so eating them together can cause various problems.

People who suffer from breathing difficulties should never eat banana and milk together.

Pregnant women should not eat banana and milk together. However, eating both, with a good gap in between, is beneficial for pregnant women and the unborn child. Eating banana and milk together creates toxins in the body, so this combination should be avoided at that time.
