A snake charmer has died after being bitten while catching a venomous snake in Nageshwari, Kurigram.

The incident happened on Wednesday morning (30 July) at Kapali Para in Ballobher Khas union of the upazila. The snake charmer was named Boyez Uddin, a resident of the Doctor Para area of the same union.

Locals said members of Imran Ali's family saw a venomous snake at the house in the morning and called local snake charmer Boyez Uddin to catch it. He went to the house and caught the snake with the help of local people. After holding the snake up by its tail for some time, he was putting it into a sack when it bit his hand. Shortly afterwards the venom began to take effect, and he died after being taken to hospital.

Nazmul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kachakata police station, confirmed the matter.
