A young man named Sabbir Ahmed, 19, has died of a snakebite in Kumarkhali, Kushtia.
He died while undergoing treatment at Kushtia General Hospital on the morning of Thursday, 19 June.
Sabbir was the son of the late Jahangir Ali of Madhupur in Bagulat union of the upazila, and worked as a decorator.
Local and hospital sources said Sabbir Ahmed was asleep in his room at night when a venomous snake bit him. When the pain began, his family admitted him to Kushtia General Hospital, where a doctor declared him dead in the morning.
Kushtia General Hospital resident medical officer (RMO) Dr Hossain Imam said the young man died of snake venom poisoning. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue for a post-mortem.
Kumarkhali police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Solaiman Sheikh confirmed the death and said preparations were under way to file an unnatural death case.
