Cash support has been given to 360 families in Dighinala, Khagrachhari, hit by two rounds of flooding this year caused by heavy rain and hill run-off from upstream.

Each affected family in Babuchhara union of the upazila received Tk 6,000 on Monday.

A total of Tk 2.16 million was distributed among the 360 families.

The final list of 360 genuinely affected families was drawn up after verification.

The money was handed directly to each household on the final list.

Hill run-off carries away jhum crops, vegetable plots and pond fish together; cash meets the immediate food need, but seed and seedlings for the next season remain a separate question.
