A 14-foot-long python has been rescued from a duck farm in Rangamati's sadar area. The snake was released into Kaptai National Park around midday on Tuesday (23 April).

It had been caught at the duck farm of engineer Ismail Hossain, a resident of Kaptai upazila sadar who works at the hill district council.

The python killed three or four ducks at his farm, he said. "On hearing a sudden noise, we tried to catch the python from 3am. We finally managed to catch it at 5.30am on Tuesday and handed it over to the Kaptai forest department."

Abu Sufian, range officer of the Kaptai forest department, said the python weighed about 15 kg. Staff of the Kaptai forest department released it into Kaptai National Park at 11am, he said.

Kaptai upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Mohiuddin, Mohiuddin Chowdhury, station officer of the Raingkhyongmukh forest revenue check station, Kaptai upazila PIO Ruhul Amin and forest department officials were present.
