The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has carried out a drive at the fish market in Jashore Boro Bazar to check the set prices of Indian hilsa and the purchase and sale documents. A wholesaler named Karnaphuli Fish was fined Tk 5,000 for failing to show the set price and the LC (letter of credit) papers for imported fish.

The drive was led by Selimuzzaman, assistant director of the directorate in Jashore, at about noon on Wednesday (16 September).

During the drive, various retail and wholesale shops in the Boro Bazar fish market were monitored. Shamim Hossain, owner of Karnaphuli Fish, was fined Tk 5,000 for failing to show information on the set price of Indian hilsa and the required import and supply documents for the imported fish.

The business was also instructed to sell Indian hilsa at the set price and to keep the necessary import documents.
