How to Cook Hilsa Kofta

A recipe for hilsa kofta curry, fried balls of hilsa paste simmered in a spiced onion-tomato gravy.

Everyone loves the taste and aroma of hilsa. The fish contains plenty of vitamins and minerals that are very good for health, and now is the time to eat it.

Homes everywhere are cooking various hilsa dishes at this time of year. Everyone enjoys hilsa jhol, jhal, paturi or bhapa, but for a change of taste, try hilsa kofta this time. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients


  • Hilsa, 4 pieces
  • Turmeric and chilli powder, 1 teaspoon
  • Gram flour (besan), 2 tablespoons
  • Chopped onion and tomato, 1 each
  • Ginger and cumin paste, 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as needed

Method


First wash the fish well and make it into a paste. In a bowl, mix the fish paste with salt to taste, turmeric, chilli powder, cumin powder and 2 spoons of gram flour.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the koftas. In the remaining oil, fry the onion and tomato, then add turmeric, chilli powder and cumin, fry the spices and add a little water.

Now add the fried koftas. When the gravy thickens, take it off the heat. Serve the hilsa kofta curry with hot rice.
