The independent parliamentary hopeful for Faridpur-4 who ran into trouble after announcing hilsa for Tk 10 has now announced that he will distribute beef for Tk 1. Posters of the candidate, Maulana Raihan Jamil, announcing the beef distribution have been put up across the constituency, and one such poster has gone viral on Facebook.

The poster says Raihan Jamil, independent candidate for Faridpur-4 (Sadarpur-Bhanga-Charbhadrasan), will give one kilogram of beef for Tk 1 in Bhanga upazila on Thursday (30 October).

Asked about it, Raihan Jamil said he would distribute beef for Tk 1 next Thursday (30 October) as announced. A list has been drawn up of those who will receive the meat and they have been given tokens; 100 destitute and poor people have already been listed and given tokens, he said.

Earlier, on 17 September, the independent hopeful Maulana Raihan Jamil had announced hilsa for only Tk 10 in Sadarpur, Faridpur. But with more people than hilsa, a commotion broke out among the crowd that had come for the cheap fish. At one point, under pressure from the crowd, Raihan Jamil left the hilsa behind and quickly left the scene.
