All sacrificial animal waste has been removed from 58 wards of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on the first day of Eid-ul-Azha.

DSCC public relations officer Md Abu Naser gave the information on Sunday night (10 July). He said that in the nine hours after the formal start of the removal work, from 2pm to 11pm that day, all sacrificial animal waste had been removed from 58 wards.

The wards are 1, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 23-33, 36-44, 49, 51-63 and 66-75.

In addition, 90 per cent of the waste had already been removed from seven wards: 5, 11, 19, 22, 34, 48 and 64.

Meanwhile, in the 24 hours from 11pm the previous night to 11pm that night, 7,139.24 metric tonnes of waste from the sacrificial animal markets were moved to the Matuail central landfill.
