Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) removed about 21,000 tonnes of qurbani (animal sacrifice) waste to the Matuail central landfill over the past three days.

DSCC public relations officer Md Abu Naser gave the information on Tuesday afternoon (12 July).

He said a total of 20,626.34 tonnes of qurbani waste was moved to the Matuail central landfill in 4,880 trips from 6pm on 9 July to 6pm on Tuesday (12 July).

On the third day of Eid, 935 sacrificial animals were slaughtered in the DSCC's 58 wards. Slaughter went on from morning until 3.30pm, and waste removal continued until 6.30pm.

Although the target was to remove sacrificial animal waste within 24 hours, all waste was cleared from every ward in just 11 hours and 15 minutes on the first day.
