The price of broiler chicken has risen by nearly Tk 60 a kg in a month. Yesterday, broiler chicken sold at Tk 185-190 a kg in various markets in the capital, against Tk 130-140 last month. Over the same period Sonali chicken rose by Tk 90 a kg, selling yesterday at Tk 330-350 against Tk 240-260 a month earlier. The price of red layer hens has not risen much: up about Tk 10 on last month, they now sell at Tk 210-230.

All kinds of vegetables are still selling at high prices in the capital's markets. Depending on quality, carrots sell at Tk 100-160 a kg and tomatoes at Tk 140-160, both unchanged on the week. Early winter beans are selling at Tk 80-120 a kg, as they did last week. Ridge gourd sells at Tk 40-50 a kg, small cauliflowers and cabbages at Tk 30-50 apiece, and radish at Tk 40-60 a kg.

Prices of snake gourd, yardlong beans, okra, pointed gourd and bitter gourd are also unchanged on the week: bitter gourd sells at Tk 60-80 a kg, snake gourd at Tk 50-60, pointed gourd at Tk 50-60, okra at Tk 40-60 and yardlong beans at Tk 70-80. Green bananas sell at Tk 30-35 a hali (four), red amaranth at Tk 10-20 a bundle, radish greens at Tk 15-20 a bundle and water spinach at Tk 5-10 a bundle, all unchanged on the week.

Onion fell to Tk 65-70 a kg last week and has dropped by a further Tk 5 over the week to sell at Tk 60 now. Loose soybean oil sold at Tk 135-140 a kg and bottled oil at Tk 155-160. Even after a fresh increase of Tk 7 per kg, the edible oil price cannot be reined in.

In the fish market, rui was selling at Tk 280-380 a kg, mrigel at Tk 250-350, tilapia at Tk 160-180, pabda at Tk 450-600 and pangas at Tk 120-160.
