Two hilsa weighing 4 kg 200 grams in total, caught in the Padma at Daulatdia in Goalanda, Rajbari, have been sold for Tk 17,640.

At noon on 25 September an expatriate living in America bought the two fish from fish trader Samrat Shajahan Sheikh at Tk 4,200 a kg.

Earlier that morning Samrat Shajahan Sheikh, a fish trader at Daulatdia No 5 ferry ghat, had bought the two fish in an open auction at Dolowar's depot in Daulatdia fish market for Tk 3,800 a kg, Tk 15,960 in all. The fish were caught in Milon Haldar's net.

Samrat Shajahan Sheikh said he bought the two hilsa, of 2 kg 200 grams and 2 kg, at open auction at Tk 3,800 a kg, then contacted the buyer by mobile phone and sold them to an expatriate in America at Tk 4,200 a kg, for a total of Tk 17,640.
