Students are benefiting in many ways from the country's largest anatomy museum, set up at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. The museum has become a rich resource for understanding every aspect of animal body structure and life processes at first hand.

Several students engaged in research in the university's anatomy lab said that within a short time the university has given them hands-on, detailed knowledge of the organs of different animals.

The anatomy museum occupies 3,000 square feet on the ground floor of the university's Yusuf Chowdhury Building. Those involved say it is the largest anatomy museum in the country in both size and collection.

It holds skeletons of 60 species of animals, large and small, and 500 preserved models of animal organs, as well as collections of DNA, chromosomes and embryos. The skeletons range from a sparrow to an elephant, and include that of a huge python collected locally.
