Transport of Qurbani cattle and goats on the special livestock train stopped just a day after it began. Chapainawabganj station master Shahidul Alam confirmed this on the afternoon of Thursday, 7 July.

He said the Cattle Special train had been introduced on the Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi-Dhaka route to carry Qurbani animals at low fares, but it was stopped because no cattle or goats were booked on the second day. Senior officials of Bangladesh Railway's western zone confirmed the halt to them, he said.

Under the rules of the cattle train, Qurbani cattle and goats must be booked 24 hours in advance, he added. No animals were booked on Thursday, so the train was stopped.

The train had set off from Chapainawabganj on Wednesday, 6 July, carrying 18 cattle and four goats in one wagon. All the cattle belonged to Shamim Ali of Baliadanga village in Sadar upazila.
