Four bhol fish sold for Tk 17,77,500 at the wholesale market of the BFDC fish landing centre in Pathorghata, Barguna. Fish wholesaler Nazrul Islam sold the four fish at auction at around 1pm on Thursday. Together they weighed 2 maunds 10 kg.

Local fisherman Bellal Hossain said fishermen had cast a net to catch coral fish in the Bay of Bengal near the Sundarbans on Tuesday night and were waiting. The four fish were later caught in that net, and the fishermen brought them to the wholesale market at the Pathorghata BFDC ghat around noon on Thursday.

Nazrul Islam, a fish wholesaler and proprietor of RK Fish, sold the four bhol fish at auction. Mostafa Alam, former president of the Pathorghata BFDC fish wholesalers' association, bought them. The fish sold at Tk 7,90,000 a maund, for a total of Tk 17,77,500. The fish will be sent abroad.

Mostafa Alam said the fish is known locally as datina, while many also call it "datina bhol". It is a species of bhol fish and looks much like a coral fish, he said. The fish will be sent abroad.
