A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal may strengthen into a deep depression within the next 24 hours.

With the sea expected to turn rough along the Digha-Shankarpur coast, tourists and residents have been advised to stay well away from the water.

Fishers have been told not to put out to sea, and boats already out have been asked to return to safe harbour.
