Khalilur Rahman is an AI technician at the Belabo upazila livestock office in Narsingdi. With the qurbani Eid in mind, he has raised a huge Friesian bull and, for fun, named it 'Belabo's Dipjol'.

The bull, six and a half feet long and ten feet wide, is now the area's sole attraction. It weighs about 900 kg (22 maunds), and the farmer wants to sell it for Tk 6 lakh this Eid.

The black-and-white bull is looked after by family members and a herdsman. It is bathed three times a day and fed green grass, wheat, bran, maize and other grains.

Farmer Khalilur Rahman said the cost of raising the bull was Tk 400 to Tk 500 at first but is now Tk 800 to Tk 1,000. He has spent Tk 3 lakh on it over the past two years and wants to sell it for Tk 6 lakh at this qurbani Eid. Offers have already reached Tk 4 lakh.

Acting District Livestock Officer Dr Nargis Khanom said 7,887 farmers in Narsingdi have fattened 87,888 livestock for Eid. The district's demand for sacrificial animals this year is 75,000, so more animals have been raised than are needed. The livestock office is giving farmers advice as well as other support.
