Nine more die with measles symptoms, taking this year's measles toll to 1,096

The DGHS bulletin on Sunday reported nine more deaths with measles symptoms in 24 hours; since 15 March there have been 188,041 suspected cases and 21,212 confirmed.

Nine more people have died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services said in its regular health bulletin on Sunday, 27 September.

According to the bulletin, 101 people have died of confirmed measles and 995 with measles symptoms this year, bringing deaths from measles and its symptoms to 1,096.

In the past 24 hours, 442 patients were admitted to hospital in Dhaka division, 338 in Chattogram, 153 in Sylhet, 127 in Barishal, 122 in Mymensingh, 93 in Khulna, 36 in Rangpur and 30 in Rajshahi.

Since 15 March, 166,310 people with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country, and 159,519 have been discharged. Suspected measles cases in that period stand at 188,041, of which 21,212 are confirmed.
