The interim government has taken a policy decision to export 1,200 tonnes of hilsa to India, subject to conditions, for the coming Durga Puja. The minimum export price has been set at Tk 1,525 a kg.

The information was given in a notice signed on 8 September by S H M Magfurul Hasan Abbasi, deputy secretary of the Export-2 branch of the Ministry of Commerce.

The notice invites applications for hilsa export from interested exporters during office hours on 11 September (until 5pm that day).

It states that applications must be accompanied by the exporting firm's updated trade licence, ERC, income tax certificate, VAT certificate, sales contract, Department of Fisheries licence and other relevant documents.

The government has set the minimum export price at $12.5 a kg, or Tk 1,525 (at Tk 122 to the dollar).
