A baghair fish weighing 34 kg has been caught in the net of a fisherman named Shanta Hawladar in the Padma river in Charbhadrasan upazila of Faridpur.

The fish was caught in his net on Thursday morning (4 November).

A local fish trader named Ripon bought the fish for Tk 37,000 at the Gopalpur ghat in the upazila. Ripon told Banglanews: "I bought the fish for Tk 37,000. Then I sold it at Charbhadrasan Sadar bazar in twenty shares at Tk 2,000 each."

Charbhadrasan upazila fisheries officer SM Mahmudul Hasan told Banglanews that the baghair is a famous fish of the Padma and is caught in fishermen's nets from time to time. "Baghair being found in the Padma here is positive news for this region," he said.
