General Waker-uz-Zaman, chief of the army and president of Kurmitola Golf Club, has inaugurated a tree-planting programme.

He opened the ASEAN Dhaka Committee's tree-planting programme at Kurmitola Golf Club on 28 September, the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said in a press release.

According to ISPR, those present on behalf of the ASEAN Dhaka Committee included Brunei Darussalam's High Commissioner to Bangladesh Haris bin Othman, the Republic of Indonesia's Ambassador Heru Hartanto Subolo, Malaysia's High Commissioner Hajnah Md Hashim, Myanmar's Ambassador Kyu Aung Moek, the Philippines' junior ambassador Leo Tito L. Ausan, the Republic of Singapore's High Commissioner Michael Lee, Thailand's Ambassador Mamyaodee Sumitmor and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam's Ambassador Nguyen Man Chung.

The vice-president of Kurmitola Golf Club and senior officials were also present.
