Airbnb and American Farmland Trust (AFT) will offer US farmers and ranchers grants of up to $10,000 each to start or expand agritourism, through a new Farm to Stay Grant Program that opens for applications in November, AGDAILY reports.

The programme is aimed at producers who want to turn working farms into overnight stays or launch on-farm experiences but lack the money to prepare their properties. Grants can pay for fitting out a property for overnight guests or for activities such as orchard harvests, wine tasting, meals made from the farm's own produce and lessons in farm work. It is meant to reach farmers in every part of the country.

"A Farm to Stay Grant can be what helps keep a family on their land through a bad season," said Jordi Torres Mallol, Airbnb's regional director for the Americas, adding that hosting can offset rising costs and bring tourism money to overlooked communities.

Airbnb said the typical farm-stay host earned about $8,000 in 2025 and that US farms on the platform earned nearly $120 million between them that year. US Google searches for "farm stay" have nearly quadrupled in a decade, and hosts' combined farm-stay income has risen close to fivefold since 2018.

Applications open in November at farmland.org/farm-to-stay. The two organisations will also run free online workshops on listing, rural hosting and community resources on 14 October and 13 November, open without a grant application. Ashley Brucker, AFT's senior manager of grantmaking, said the partnership gives farming communities a foothold in a growing sector at a time of serious headwinds.
