Whole milk rises to 39 percent of US fluid milk sales as the total falls 22 percent

USDA's Economic Research Service reported on 2 April 2026 that US fluid milk sales fell 22 percent, from about 55,433 million pounds in 2009 to 43,179 million pounds in 2024, while whole milk's share recovered from a 2012 low of 26 percent to 39 percent.
