Survey finds 52 waterbird species on Meghna estuary chars, 14 of them globally threatened

Forest Department and NACOM counts logged more than 32,000 birds in January, a critically endangered spoon-billed sandpiper and a flock of 1,338 Indian skimmers; grazing, hunting and fishing traps threaten the chars, and a ten-year conservation plan has been drawn up.
