The gifts Islam forbids: favours to officials, returns on loans, unequal gifts to children
The Prophet (peace be upon him) encouraged giving gifts, but hadiths in Sahih Bukhari, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah and Tirmidhi forbid gifts received because of one's office, gifts in return for a recommendation or a loan, and gifts that favour one child over another.
