Fishers on the Gohira coast in Anwara, Chattogram, have started drying fish for the winter season, but thin catches since the fishing ban ended have them worried about production.
Of 5.175 km of permanent embankment and bank protection in Anwara, Chattogram, 1 km is finished in Raipur and about 80 percent in Juidandi. Residents hope it will end saltwater breaches that ruin crops and shrimp ponds.
Dead fish have been floating in several enclosures at Shahadatnagar in Chattogram's Anwara since Friday afternoon; farmers say chemical-laden waste water from the Karnaphuli urea plant entered through canals, the company could not be reached and no written complaint has yet been filed.
