Domestic processing kept demand firm for US corn and soybeans in August, with USDA reporting stronger year-on-year use of both crops, All Ag News reports.
Corn consumed for alcohol and other uses totalled 528 million bushels, down less than 1 percent from July but up 4 percent from August 2025. Fuel ethanol took 478 million bushels, also 4 percent more than a year earlier. Corn processing produced 1.85 million tons of distillers dried grains with solubles, and distillers wet grains reached 1.28 million tons, up 5 percent, adding to livestock feed supplies.
Soybean processors crushed 210 million bushels, down from 222 million in July but above the 198 million crushed in August 2025, and produced 2.45 billion pounds of crude soybean oil.
The figures show ethanol plants and crushers continuing to provide a large domestic outlet for row crops as the new harvest begins to move to market.
