The forest department has rescued a 14-foot python in Tentulia, Panchagarh. The snake was rescued on the afternoon of Saturday, 5 October, from the Nandagachh area of Debnagar union in the upazila, and was later sent to Ramsagar National Park.

Sources said local people spotted the snake in a bamboo grove on the Tentulia border. On receiving the news, forest department beat officers rescued it. The snake is 14 feet long and weighs 9 kg 200 grams.

Forest department beat officer Nurul Huda said the snake was put into a sack with the help of a local man named Sadekul. "We have sent the snake to Ramsagar National Park in Dinajpur, where it will be released," he said.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fazle Rabbi said pythons had been seen in the area several times before. It is believed the snake entered Bangladesh across the Indian border because of hill runoff.
