A venomous Russell's viper bit a farmer named Milon Ali (40) while he was working in a field in Shibganj, Chapainawabganj. The farmer caught the snake alive, put it in a sack and brought it to the upazila health complex.

The incident took place around 11am on Monday (8 July) on a Padma char in Panka union of the upazila. Milon is the son of Md Tofazzal Hossain of Boglaguri village in Panka union. He is being treated at the upazila health complex.

Milon Ali told Jago News: "I was working in a field on the Padma char from the morning when a snake bit me. Hearing me scream, locals ran over and saw the Russell's viper. Then we caught the snake alive and brought it to the hospital. First aid is done. I am fine now and have no problems."

Selim Reza, medical officer at Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, said Milon Ali's condition was good. Many people go to a kabiraj or ojha after a snakebite, but instead he came straight to the hospital.
