A 10-foot python has been rescued from a paddy field in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, by snake conservationist Chanchal Goala, a conservation worker with the Creative Conservation Alliance.

The snake was released in Lawachara National Park in Kamalganj upazila on the morning of 21 August.

Chanchal Goala said local people phoned him at around 6:30am to say a python was trapped in a paddy field in Langurpar village. "I went there and rescued the snake. The python had become tangled in a net fence in the paddy field. We cut the net and brought the snake to the rescue centre in Lawachara National Park. It was somewhat injured; after it recovered, it was released in Lawachara National Park at around 1pm."

Kazi Nazmul Haque, range officer of Lawachara National Park, said the python had been released safely in the park with the help of forest guards. Residents of areas next to the forest have also been advised to stay alert, and he urged people not to beat snakes to death when they see them.
