Pran-RFL Public School at Shoiljura in Shayestaganj, Habiganj, held a tree-planting programme in memory of those martyred in the anti-discrimination student movement.

The programme, held on Tuesday afternoon (24 September) with support from the marketing department of Pran-RFL Group, included an awareness rally and a discussion on the importance of planting trees. Prizes were also given for a speech competition on the need for and importance of tree planting in protecting the environment.

It was chaired by Lt Col Engineer Sheikh Jalal (retd), general manager (GM) of Habiganj Industrial Park (RFL) and chairman of the school's governing body. Shayestaganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Farzana Akter Mita was the chief guest.

The special guests were upazila forest officer Ram Krishna Ghosh, upazila academic supervisor Jagadish Das Talukdar and Nurul Afsar, head of corporate (brand) at Pran-RFL Group.

The school's principal Md Mobinul Haque Chowdhury and vice-principal Md Mofakkhar Uddin also spoke.

The guests planted over a hundred trees on the school grounds and handed out saplings of various kinds to the students.
