A python weighing about 40kg has been rescued from a house beside the HEED Bangladesh project in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar. The snake was released in Lawachhara National Park the same night.

The snake was rescued at 9pm on Tuesday, 31 March, from the house of Mizan Mia, beside the HEED Bangladesh project in Kamalganj Sadar union. At midnight it was released deep in the Lawachhara forest with the help of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division and the rescue team of the Creative Conservation Alliance.

According to the Forest Department, members of the Creative Conservation Alliance rescue team recovered the huge python, weighing an estimated 40kg, unharmed from the house at around 9pm. On the instructions of the Moulvibazar range officer of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, the snake was released in Lawachhara National Park that night.

Present at the release were Creative Conservation Alliance rescue team members Chanchal Goala, Samdeo Pashi and Muktadir Rahman, along with a team from the Forest Department and Kamalganj police station.

Mohammad Kazi Nazmul Haque, Moulvibazar range officer of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, confirmed the matter, saying the python was rescued unharmed and released that night.
