Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has said there is no fertiliser crisis in the country, yet disorder is still occurring because a "planwise", or planned, conspiracy is being carried out over fertiliser.

He made the remarks on the fertiliser situation on 18 August at a briefing in the conference room of the Ministry of Agriculture on expanding facilities at the airport, including cold storage and cool rooms at the cargo village, to boost exports of agricultural products.

The minister said the government now holds more fertiliser than it did last year. In many places there is no room left in government warehouses to store it. "There is no problem with fertiliser," he said.

He said the government has adopted a new fertiliser policy, and those who believe they will lose out under it are the ones creating trouble. The situation will gradually settle, he added.

"Since we have fertiliser in stock, we are not afraid of any conspiracy," he said. "I would tell those who are doing this: it is not good, do not do it."
