A farmer named Khalil Mridha, 55, has died of a snakebite in Boalmari, Faridpur.

He died at the upazila health complex at about 1.30pm on 28 September. He was the son of Intaj Mridha of Satoir union in the upazila.

According to the hospital and his family, Khalil Mridha was bitten at about noon while fetching a goat from beside a pond near his home. He was brought to the upazila health complex within an hour and treatment began. He was given antivenom but died at about 1.30pm.

Abdullah Al Masum, a doctor in the health complex's emergency department, did not answer several calls to his mobile phone.

Confirming the death, Dr KM Mahmud Rahman, resident medical officer (RMO) of Boalmari Upazila Health Complex, told Jago News that because the snake was highly venomous and the patient was older, he could not be saved even after antivenom was given.
