Alliance Group, New Zealand's farmer-owned meat processor, will pay eligible farmer-shareholders up to $20 million later this year following its strategic investment partnership with Ireland's Dawn Meats, Rural News reported.
Alliance Co-operative chair Mark Wynne said 45% will be paid as a dividend on shareholding and 55% as a rebate on eligible livestock supply, with payments expected in late 2026. A further distribution of up to $20 million is planned for next year, subject to livestock flows, with 75% paid as a rebate and 25% retained as earnings. Alliance has not yet set out detailed eligibility criteria.
Chief executive Niall Browne said that ten months after the Dawn Meats transaction the business is moving into a "reset-and-growth phase" after a tough few years. He said Alliance is holding its market share in lamb, mutton, beef and venison, investing in plant upgrades for safety, reliability, efficiency and product quality, and streamlining livestock procurement.
Farmer-shareholders are being asked to check their livestock supply numbers in the Alliance farmer portal.
