The Senate Agriculture Committee has sent the Agricultural Act of 2026 to the full Senate on a 12-11 vote, and feed, soybean, corn, dairy, pork, sorghum, cattle, fertiliser and specialty-crop groups have lined up to back it while pressing their own priorities.

Mitch McConnell's return gave Republicans the deciding vote on 16 September, but the bill needs 60 votes in the full Senate, must be reconciled with the House version, and the House has recessed for seven weeks.
