In Arabidopsis, CAMTA6, PP2C49 and HKT1;1 keep potassium in and sodium out of the germinating embryo; blocking PP2C49 with the bloodroot compound sanguinarine lifted germination from 76% to 92% under moderate salt and from 3% to 37% under severe salt, though the benefit ended at emergence.
