Seven men were detained with a dredger and a bulkhead while lifting sand illegally from the Tetulia river in Bhola's Borhanuddin upazila and fined Tk 1 lakh by a mobile court; the Coast Guard says such extraction is accelerating erosion and threatening riverside farmland and homesteads.
