Krishak Dal will plant 25,000 tree saplings in Naogaon during the Bengali month of Shraban, said Fazle Huda Babul, member of parliament for Naogaon-3. He said leaders and activists of the farmers' organisation are carrying out the programme in every upazila, union and village of the district as part of the 25-crore tree-planting drive announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

He was speaking as chief guest at the launch of the programme on the morning of Sunday, 26 July, at Mataji Mor in the Baludanga bus terminal area of Naogaon town. Fazle Huda Babul opened the drive by planting a neem sapling beside the road.

Speakers at the event stressed the importance of keeping nature in balance and urged everyone to come forward to plant trees. At least 1,000 women and men were each given a sapling.

District BNP general secretary Mamnur Rahman Ripon, former member secretary Bayezid Hossain Palash, organising secretary Khairul Alam Golden, Nure Alam Mithu and others were present. District Krishak Dal convener Mominul Islam Chanchal presided, and the event was conducted by district Krishak Dal member secretary ATM Firoz Dulu.
