Twenty-seven cattle have died in a fire at a farm in Nachole upazila of Chapainawabganj. The fire broke out around 7:30pm on Thursday (17 March) at the farm of Soleman Ali in Akhila village of Kasba union.

Kasba UP chairman Golam Zakaria told Jago News that around 7:30pm Soleman Ali lit straw to make smoke to protect his cattle from mosquito bites and went to say his prayers. When he returned he found the farm on fire.

He said the fire was put out after about half an hour with the help of locals, but by then 27 cattle on the farm had burned to death. The estimated loss is about Tk 30 lakh.

Nachole police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mintu Rahman said he went to the scene on getting the news, and action would be taken after an investigation.
