A photo exhibition titled 'Save the Biodiversity of Hill Tracts', featuring 51 pictures by two photographers, has opened to raise awareness about protecting the forests, wildlife and nature of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The five-day exhibition of photographs by engineer Sabuj Chakma and journalist Samir Mallik began at 11am on 4 November.

Nazmun Ara Sultana, deputy director of the Local Government Division, opened the exhibition at the new building of the Small Ethnic Groups Cultural Institute in Khagrachhari. It will be open every day from 11am to 5pm.

"This exhibition presents the forests, wildlife and nature of the hills very beautifully. Through it, visitors will be able to learn about the nature of the hills," Nazmun Ara Sultana said.

Jiten Chakma, deputy director of the Small Ethnic Groups Cultural Institute, said the exhibition includes pictures of various species of birds, wildlife and landscapes taken in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Such exhibitions satisfy visitors' artistic appetite and at the same time build awareness about protecting life and nature, he said.

Photographer and engineer Sabuj Chakma said the exhibition includes pictures of several rare birds and wild animals, and visitors will be able to learn about the rich nature and wildlife of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Many of the pictures, taken in the three hill districts, are being shown to the public for the first time, he said.
