Usama (RA) narrated that one day the Prophet (PBUH) climbed a high building in Medina and said: "Do you see what I see? I see the places where trials will fall inside your homes like rainfall." (Muslim, Hadith 7137)
Explanation: this was a special miracle of the Prophet (PBUH). He said this after seeing what kinds of trials, and how many, would come to this world in the near future, close to the Day of Judgement.
Meaning of the hadith
The main point of the hadith is that before the Day of Judgement, trials and calamities will engulf Muslims as widely as rain, and signs of this are already appearing in the world. In country after country, Muslims are being persecuted and brought down, with or without reason, and many Muslims are wandering in every direction, bewildered, in search of a little safe refuge.
The Prophet (PBUH) gave such hints too. Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Soon there will be trials in which the one sitting will be better than the one standing, the one standing better than the one walking, and the one walking better than the one running. Whoever gets involved in those trials will be destroyed by them. And whoever finds a place of refuge should take shelter in it." (Muslim, Hadith 7139)
A hint of internal strife
These two hadiths also point towards internal strife. The Prophet (PBUH) said Muslims would fall into many worldly and other-worldly calamities. The reason Medina is specially mentioned in the first hadith is that Uthman (RA) was killed in Medina, and after that strife spread through various Muslim countries.
