A reward of Tk 50,000 has been announced in Faridpur for killing a Russell's viper (chandrabora).

The announcement was made on Thursday afternoon (20 June) at a preparatory meeting for the Awami League's 75th founding anniversary, held at the district Awami League office at Russell Square in the town.

Speaking at the meeting, district Awami League general secretary Shah Md Ishtiaq Arif said at one point that anyone who could kill a Russell's viper in the Faridpur Kotwali area would be given a reward of Tk 50,000.

He also said the reward would be given for every Russell's viper killed: however many people killed however many snakes, Tk 50,000 would be given for each snake. The announcement was made in an effort to protect people from the snake, he said.

Reserved-seat MP Jharna Hasan, district Awami League president Shamim Haque and other district Awami League leaders were present at the meeting.
