The government has formed a three-member cabinet committee to give the Ministry of Agriculture the advice and support it needs on fertiliser lifting, distribution and the appointment of fertiliser dealers.

Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, minister for women and children affairs and for social welfare, has been made convener. The other two members are Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam. The committee affairs branch of the Cabinet Division issued a notification to this effect on Tuesday, 25 August.

Under its terms of reference, the committee will monitor fertiliser lifting, distribution and dealer appointments across the country and give the Ministry of Agriculture the necessary advice.

The notification said the Ministry of Agriculture would provide the committee with secretarial support.
