Farming's share of rural loans fell from 25% to 16% in 12 years, BIDS-IFPRI study finds

Research presented at a BIDS and IFPRI policy dialogue shows rural households borrowing more but spending less of it on farming, three in four rural loans coming from NGOs, repayment burdens rising and banks financing only 2 to 7 percent of farm machinery purchases.
