Pakistan's government has announced Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar as the country's interim prime minister. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) confirmed it on Saturday, 12 August. Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Raja Riaz, the outgoing leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, met to decide who would be interim prime minister. The much-awaited announcement came after they agreed on Kakar.
