When the mist lifts and dawn breaks over the hills of Rangamati, the day's work begins: some head to school, others to the fields. Prothom Alo photographer Supriyo Chakma caught that morning in Mounaghar, Shimujjechhara and Bhuter Tila.
The first picture shows hills wrapped in morning mist as the light slowly comes up. Then the fields: an elderly farmer, sickle in hand, checks the ears of rice; an elderly hill woman walks a narrow ridge between paddies; another woman clears weeds in a plot fenced with bamboo.
A hill farmer heads to work with a machete on his shoulder, and a group of women set off together. In another picture fishers take a boat out onto the misty lake to cast their nets.
Alongside them, schoolchildren in uniform walk to school with bags on their shoulders, a teacher with them. Across the paddy fields, the lake and the hill paths, this is how a working day begins in the hills.
