Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has come first among Bangladesh's agricultural universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2025 ranking of Asia's best universities, published by the UK-based education magazine.

Times Higher Education published the ranking on its website on Wednesday (23 April). It lists 853 universities from 35 regions in Asia. GAU secured a place in the 351-400 band for Asia, making it the top agricultural university in the country and third nationally. In the 351-400 band, GAU is followed by Jahangirnagar University and North South University.

In January, GAU was also the best in the country in Times Higher Education's World University Subject Rankings 2025, coming first among all public and private universities in the life sciences category. The university has achieved notable positions in various international rankings over the past several years.

Mohammad Abbas Uddin, assistant registrar of the university's public relations section, confirmed the news on Sunday (28 April).
