The kash field at Aftabnagar in Dhaka glows in the soft autumn sun. Rows of white kash flowers sway together in the breeze under a blue sky dotted with white clouds, captured in pictures by Prothom Alo photographer Sabina Yasmin.

Escaping the city's dust, many people are heading to Aftabnagar to see the flowers, some with family, some with friends, some with a loved one.

The pictures show a nature lover standing among the plumes, two women celebrating with kash in their hands, a visitor touching the flowers and others posing for photographs beside the field.

Kash is a familiar sign of autumn in Bangladesh, turning river chars and open land white at this time of year. In a city of brick and concrete, the stand at Aftabnagar offers residents a patch of nature.

The original pictures are by Sabina Yasmin of Prothom Alo; the picture above is illustrative, a kash field on a char of the Dharla in Kurigram.
